If you’re looking at trailers for sale in NZ, chances are you’ve got a solid idea of what you need it to do. Whether it’s shifting tools for work, carrying stock around the farm, hauling gear through the backcountry, or something else entirely, the right trailer can make a big difference in how smoothly your day runs. We know there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution, which is why choosing the right trailer for your setup is worth taking the time to get right.
The first thing we look at is what you’ll be carrying, and it guides almost every other decision.
Tools and equipment: Tandem axle box trailers are a go-to for builders, sparkies, plumbers, and landscapers. They usually come with lockable boxes, ladder racks.
Stock and farm gear: If you’re on the land, a farm trailer with cage sides, high clearance, and off-road suspension is often a better fit.
Adventure gear: Off-road trailers and cage trailers offer flexibility for hunters, campers, and weekend missions. We build plenty of galvanised trailers that can take on tough terrain and bad weather without a fuss.
Rubbish, soil, or firewood: A tipper trailer makes short work of unloading, especially for repetitive or heavy jobs.
Once you know your main use case, we can help you fine-tune the rest.
In New Zealand, trailers need to meet Warrant of Fitness (WoF) depending on their use. Weight rating plays into this, along with what your vehicle can legally tow.
We always work through the payload you need, how much the trailer weighs on its own (tare weight), and what the towing vehicle can handle. For bigger loads, a tandem axle trailer is often the safest and most stable choice, especially over long distances or uneven ground.
We’re often asked this one. Single axle trailers are lighter, easier to move by hand, and great for general use around town. Tandem axle trailers are better for heavier loads and longer hauls. You’ll get improved stability, less sway, and better braking, especially if you're travelling on highways or over rough terrain.
If you’re carting machinery, moving firewood, or just want extra peace of mind, we usually recommend going tandem.
Deciding between a box trailer and a flatdeck comes down to what you’re hauling and how much protection it needs.
Box trailers are a solid choice for everyday use. They’re ideal for general gear, tools, camping equipment, or anything that benefits from side panels to keep it contained. Add a cage or cover and you’ve got extra height and weather protection — handy for keeping your load dry on the road or at camp.
Flatdeck trailers are better suited to oversized or awkward loads that wouldn’t fit inside a boxed frame. Think building materials, pallets, or machinery. With no sides to work around, loading and unloading is quicker, especially with a forklift or crane.
If you’re after a trailer that handles both work and weekends, a box trailer with a removable cover or cage gives you that flexibility. We can help you weigh up your options based on what you’re moving and where you’re headed.
It’s no secret there are plenty of cheap imports floating around. But not all trailers are built for New Zealand’s rough tracks, unpredictable weather, and tough working conditions. That’s why we only offer trailers made for NZ's tough conditions, fully galvanised, built for long-term use, and designed with local materials and conditions in mind. Our heavy duty trailers stand up to real-world use because we’ve designed and tested them for it.
We’ve built trailers for tradies working in tight city streets, farmers shifting gear and livestock, builders on the move, and families heading out camping or relocating.
